The course addresses the critical role cities play in the global climate crisis, noting that cities consume 78% of global energy and produce over 70% of greenhouse gas emissions. By 2050, 68% of the world's population is expected to live in urban areas, making ESG integration essential to avoid climate catastrophe, social inequality, and governance failures. ESG principles provide the framework to create cities that are low-carbon, inclusive, resilient, and economically viable.
