Smart farming is a new concept that refers to managing farms or
plantations using modern technologies such to increase the
productivity of agriculture in more sustainable approaches. On the
other side, sustainable agriculture is a concept of meeting current
food demands without jeopardizing future generations' ability to
meet their own requirements. The usage of smart farming to sustain
agricultural production has been widely used in Western countries
and Asian developed nations such as Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
However, smart farming is still in the infant stage in Malaysia. Thus,
this course will emphasize the basic principles of smart farming, plant
nutrition, sustainable agriculture, transforming the future of
agriculture and how every segment of society in Malaysia can play a
role in ensuring sustainable agricultural production.
